Hi, I’m Jack and I am a student who fell in love with making games in college. Check them out!

What can I do / have I done?

  • While not my strong suit, I did spend some time in computer science. I can make my way around most simple coding environments and I’m a wiz in simple unity models.

  • My emotional bread and butter. I have spent many years playing a litany of games from the classics like D&D 5e to Catan to niche games like my personal favorite Familiars and Foes. I haven’t gotten the opportunity to make the sprawling complex games my friends and I yearn for, but I have been able to make little things that bring joy and truly that’s what I love about games.

  • You may be asking, “How is this different from non-digital games?” Well that’s because of my personal experience. I spent the majority of my life in theatre (Ages 3 - Now). From this, I garnered many skills that translate directly to game-ifying theatre. I have built full 360 sets by hand, won awards for performing, and been given the honor of directing and producing shows, all while only in high school! Now imagine all that AND I now know how to make games!

About me

I grew up in Southwest Florida. As a gay man, that was incredibly difficult. As I came to terms with my identity, I found solace in Games. I’d spend hours at the computer playing alone. Then my parents forced me to go outside (How rude!) and I found theatre. It was a community that accepted me for who I was and I learned to love people. Then, something truly shocking happened. I realized games can be done with people! It was magical. “You’re telling me I can not only escape reality but I can do it WITH PEOPLE! AND I LIKE THOSE PEOPLE!” I then spent many years learning, forming bonds, and most importantly playing games. Luckily I am a nerd, so I didn’t just play games, I also watched. I saw my friends with their distinct personalities make moves, interact with rules, and like all theatre kids do, make a show out of everything! Now I am here, living in Boston with my boyfriend, learning about what games are, and how to make them, so that another little queer boy in Florida can learn like I did. You can always use games to escape, but you never have to do so alone.
